This complete Shrinking pilot script comes signed by Jason Segel, who took the lead in the Apple TV+ series after two decades of comic supporting work. As Jimmy Laird, Segel plays a grieving therapist who abandons professional distance and starts saying the blunt thing, a premise the first episode establishes within its opening minutes. The part gave him a dramatic register his earlier comedies rarely asked for. Great addition to any television collection.
Segel co-created the series with Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein and also writes for it. The pilot introduces the practice, Jimmy's teenage daughter Alice, and the colleagues who spend the season deciding whether to stop him. Scripts are production documents, so the text matches what was shot rather than a published edition.
